72h Permaculture Design Course, Konso, Ethiopia: Certified under the PRI’s Master Plan

This PDC will take place in Konso, south Ethiopia, from 13th – 25th February 2012, at Strawberry Fields Eco Lodge. It will have a special focus on the application of Permaculture to communities in the developing world and low tech solutions to food establishment in rural and urban schools and communities drawing inspiration from established projects in a range of locations and climate zones around the country.

Cost: US$650 ($500 for Ethiopians)

This six day building course is for anyone passionate about Natural Building. You do not need any prior experience, just a reasonable level of physical fitness to participate. Whatever your physical abilities may be, you will be able to form part of the team.

This course is aimed at anyone who would like a better understanding of natural building materials and practical building skills. It would suit owner-builders, architectural technologists, engineers many others and provide a good understanding to those looking at sustainable building options.

Our training farm offers many examples of natural building and green technology, which you will explore during your time here.

 The Jewish National Fund of South Africa and Councilor Mbele, Ward 18, Mamelodi.
Invite you to attend our Arbour Week event to plant 5500 trees in Mamelodi Ward 18.
Community members who have signed up for the programme will each receive 2 trees – a shade tree and a fruit tree to plant in their gardens. In addition they have been trained in the importance of urban greening, including instructions on how to plant trees and how to look after them. Our aim is to develop a canopy forest for Mamelodi that can be enjoyed in the future.
