We farm organic, make our own compost,use a Sandberberger Turner, imported from Holland. We have our own wormery.We apply our own worm castings to our citrus trees, and also make and use our own worm tee. We use microorganisms which we multiply ourselves and apply by spraying, and using via our irrigation system.

Details of project / farm / organization Indicate the approach that you or your organization promotes in sustainable organic agriculture and supply a brief description of what your project / work / farm entails:We are an urban agriculture (UA) and environmental action (EA) association operating in the socio-economically neglected townships of Khayelitsha, Nyanga and surrounding areas on the Cape Flats near Cape Town, South Africa. We assist individuals, groups and community based organisations to initiate and maintain permanent organic food growing and nature conservation projects as the basis for sustainable lifestyles, self-help job creation, poverty alleviation and environmental renewal. Provide resource support by supplying low cost agricultural and horticultural inputs to the community from the People's Garden Centres. Surplus marketing project: identifies and sells on a weekly basis surplus produce from subsistence gardens (produce which cannot be easily sold inside the townships) to the wider market outside.

1.Basic Agriculture Course over 4 days with up to two seasons follow-up, for survival and subsistence levels. This training is our most important training, to launch new farmers to overcome food insecurity and obtain seasonal extra income from local informal sales. It is not accredited (too much trouble for too few credits) but is well respected in the communities we serve.
2.AgriPlanner: takes place over 8 days, in modules, for those who are developing more consistent agri-business skills in the transition from subsistence into livelihood (semi-commercial) which helps them to connect to the wider formal market via our Harvest of Hope initiative. This course is accredited via the SAIE www.entrepreneurship.co.za .
3.Ongoing mentorship and on-site technical support and follow-up ad-hoc training , permanently, to all our projects. Some of our courses we offer are:
